Safari Club International is the Leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and in promoting wildlife conservation worldwide.

To protect and preserve our hunting heritage through wildlife conservation, education, legislative and humanitarian efforts.

SCI is committed to...

  • Providing value to members by shaping policies and legislation that protect the freedom to hunt locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Keeping members informed regarding issues that impact hunting while educating and entertaining members with engaging articles about the rich heritage of hunting in all forms of media.
  • Providing a community for hunters worldwide where camaraderie is enjoyed and expert information is exchanged, and where members are able to participate in a market for quality hunting goods and services.
  • Promoting a positive image of hunters and portraying them as responsible citizens who fund wildlife conservation, education and other programs which benefit the community.

Purpose of SCI Golden Gate Chapter:

Further the mission of SCI and our Goal of “Being First for Hunters” within California and especially the Bay Area. Enjoy the fellowship of like minded people. Local Projects are also in the areas of Conservation, Education, Legislation and Humanitarian Service.

Where most members live:

San Francisco, East Bay Area and North Bay Area.

When we meet for a “regular” meeting:

3rd Wednesday of each Month is reserved for chapter meetings and we generally meet on this date in February, March, April, May, June, August, October and November. This is done at a restaurant, where we have dinner and generally a featured speaker on a topic of interest.

What special events are held or hosted each year:

  • Chapter Tables for banquets and entertainment at the International Convention
  • Chapter Fundraiser Banquet and Auction generally in February or March
  • Chukar Hunt in late March
  • Sight In Day during May - August
  • Sporting Clays Shoot in June or July
  • Trophy Room Tour in June
  • Dove Hunt on Sept 1 (Opening Day)
  • Christmas Party on the second Sunday in December

Our Code of Ethics:

Recognizing my responsibilities to wildlife, habitat and future generations, I pledge:

  • To conduct myself in the field so as to make a positive contribution to wildlife and ecosystems,
  • To improve my skills as a woodsman and marksman to ensure humane harvesting of wildlife,
  • To comply with all game laws, in the spirit of Fair Chase, and to influence my companions accordingly.
  • To accept my responsibility to provide all possible assistance to game law enforcement officers.
  • To waste no opportunity to teach young people the full meaning of this code of ethics.
  • To reflect in word and behavior only credit upon the fraternity of sportsmen, and to demonstrate abiding respect for game, habitat and property where I am privileged to hunt.
